The 4th Zdeněk Fibich International Melodrama Composition Competition has a winner

The final concert of the 4th International Zdeněk Fibich Competition in Composition of Melodrama brought ten anonymous compositions, which were judged by a five-member jury consisting of: Jiří Bezděk, Eduard Douša, Josef Marek, Věra Šustíková and Pavel Trojan. The performers of the new melodramas were Marta Hrachovinová, Filip Sychra and pianist Daniel Wiesner.

On Sunday, October 26th at 6:30 pm, a large audience gathered in the HAMU Gallery, which decided to award the “Prize of the Audience” to the melodrama Mrtvá (author William Vlček). The same melodrama was also awarded the “Prize of the Performers ” by the interpreters of the concert. The expert jury then awarded an honorary mention for the 4th place to the melodrama Jaro je dobrý úmysl (Jaroslav Beneš), and combined the third and second prizes due to equality of points and thus the prizes shared the melodramas Mrtvá (William Vlček) and Závěrečná řeč Milady Horákové (Albert Pechmann). The absolute victory went to the melodrama Čest práci, tati! by Martin Mosche. The unveiling and introduction of the authors showed that the awardees were Czech composers of the youngest generation.
